What process/paper work to file for F1 student to become permanent resident?
Hi,
I am a US citizen just married an international student. She carries a F1 visa. What forms or process do I need to do in order for her to obtain a green card and become a permanent resident? Do I just file I-130 form? How long is the process to complete from now until she gets her status from international student changed to permanent resident?
Thanks for your inputs!
Answer: You must file I-130, I-864, your G-352a and she files I-485, her G-352, I-693, I-764 and I-131 altogether. Once your wife gets the Receipt notice of I-485, her status will be Pending AOS status. However, it is better to maintain F1 status until the green card. It could take from 6 months to 12 months until she gets green card. Congrats and good luck with everything.

How come F1 racing overalls are not available for purchase?
I have looked everywhere for race overalls for different F1 teams such as mclaren and williams, but I cant find them anywhere. Does anyone know where to find them, and if not, why are they not available for purchase?
Answer: You can buy race wear from http://www.racewear.co.uk/ including the flame resistant overalls.
The ones used by F1 teams tend to be made to order for the size of the driver (apart from those which Jacques Villeneuve used, which were 2 sizes too big). They therefore cost a fortune, and are not on general release.
But if you get one the right colour, you can add the patches for the sponsors yourself. Just don't use it for racing - the stiching will wreck the flame resistant characteristics and make them unsafe to racing use.

How can F1 Fuji Speedway Organizer get away with this hell?
We ended up queuing for 3.5 hours in the cold rain waiting for shut bus #92. Kids were crying. People shivering in the dark with no idea whats going on, when they can be home.
No one was managing the crowd. No one even know where the line ends.
We ran to the bus stop as soon as the race ended. Looking back into our queue, which felt like the worst one of all, the line swing all the way back up the slope and i couldnt even see the end. There must be hundreds out there who had to wait for 5+ hours to get on.
More tragedy: the road from shuttle drop off to parking area was unpaved and filled with mud. Lights were few and far in between so we have to navigate the mess in darkness.
Official excuse: heavy rain caused the delay?!
The organizer must take responsibility for its blatant lack of planning and crisis management. Everything we saw reflect a complete neglect of the needs & safety of their customers.
How to get our voice heard by the F1 management?
Answer: There is a lot of traffic on the Japanese sites about this debacle. I ended up walking to the station in the dark. Fortunately a kind resident of a nearby town picked us up and drove us part of the way. Reuters are saying the organizers are refunding $3.5 million for people with bad seats. There may be more to come I suppose if the complaints continue to pour in. One email address I found was info-fswF1@fujispeedway.co.jp

During laps, you see an F1 driver adjusting a lever of some sort. What does this lever control?
Answer: the driver is adjusting 'brake bias' from the front set of brakes to the rear set,or, from the rear set to the front.
the driver ,in doing this, is able to adjust the car(particularly longitudinal balance) according to fuel usage,tyre wear and any other conditions that are not allowing the car's best performance.
it's also a tactic used by a driver to stay in front of, or, over take another car(i.e;late or early braking)

How does a F1 driver become world champion? Is it by scoring enough points or by winning most races?
I understand that the F1 rules have changed, but the commentators still seem to be talking about scoring the most points. This would allow someone who always came second to win the championship. So, Who wins, point scorers or race winners?
Answer: Its points, because the championship doesn't reward the fastest driver it rewards the most CONSISTENTLY HIGH SCORING driver - hence you can win the championship but not win a single race.

I have heard that Shuie might return to drive for Ferrari next year. I f the rumors are true (i think ferrari realise that they need him to get back to winning ways) do you think he wil now be scared off by Lewis Hamilton? He has a lot to lose & not a lot to gain - but he could easily lose his greatest driver ever crown to this lad?? What do you think??

I kind of agree its the car letting Ferrari down at the moment - but why was it so great before?? Because Shiue had the whole team working as 1 & put everything into th team & car - while Raikonnen has had a lot of criticism for spending most of his time down the boozer.....

What is the step by step procedure for someone on F1 visa to marry US citizen?
My boyfrined is on F1 visa and I am US citizen. What is the procedure to get married in US? How soon you can have marriage certificate? He is graduating in Summer 2008. Is it advicable for him to marry before he graduates so he does not have to worry about getting H1 visa or we should marry after he gets his job with H1 visa? How long does it actually take to get Greencard from F1 visa after our marraige?

Answer: You just get married like anyone else.
After you're married you need to file the following:
I-130
I-485
I-765 and
G-325
with the Citizenship and Immigration Service. You can find the forms and their instructions here....

The cost to file will be about $1,300. In about 90 days he'll get a work permit. He can use the work permit to get a Social Security card.
In about 6 months he'll get his approval for a Green Card and it will take another 6 months for the card to arrive in the mail.
Don't even think about going for an H1 visa. The process is long and there is no guarantee that even if he finds an employer that the employer will be able to get the visa for him.
Don't worry if the F1 expires. As soon as you submit the I-130 and I-485 his stay in the US is 100% legal until his approval comes through. Keep the receipt for filing as proof that the forms have been submitted.
DO NOT, understand DO NOT let him leave the country after you get married and file the forms. If he leaves the country the filing becomes void and you just wasted $1,300. They won't even let him back in. He must stay until he gets his approval.

How would a turbo era F1 car compete with a modern F1 car on a lap?
Would they be similar in pacce? Some turbo era cars had 1000+ bhp in qualifying spec+ slick tyres but would the more aerodynamicly efficent F1 cars of the milenium be faster?
Answer: If you look at lap times and take into account that there aren't any circuits being used this season in the exact same configuration as 1988 or earlier, then the turbos would appear to be about 10 seconds off the pace. I've looked at circuits which have changed the least, compared the fastest turbo lap to the fastest lap of 1989, and then compared that fastest lap to the most recent one (2007 or 2008). The circuits I used for comparison were Hungaroring, Monza, Montreal and Spa. Spa and the Hungaroring were actually the circuits on which the turbos were closest (bearing in mind that the turbo version of the Hungaroring, used for the last time in 1988, was MUCH slower, with an additional chicane); they were further off the pace at Monza and Montreal...this would appear to show that it's not necessarily absolute downforce which gives the modern F1 car the additional speed, but how the car reacts under heavy braking from high speed (because in Hungary you just don't have a slow corner after a fast straight, and in Spa there are only two; at Monza there are 3 very heavy braking areas and in Montreal there are four).

What is the champagne that the drivers spray on the spectators at the end of F1 races? How much does it cost per bottle?
Answer: The champagne is G.H. Mumm. It is the official champagne of Formula1. The drivers spray it on each other and pass it onto the mechanics and pit crew below the podium. None of it gets sprayed on the spectators.
They cost around 80usd for the 75cl bottles, the ones they use in F1 podium victories are a lot larger and cost more.
