Where to go in Europe between April 1 and 4?
I am planning to go to Europe between April 1 and 4 by myself. Where would you go if you were me?

Answer: Cinque Terre or the Amalfi Coast in Italy. both meet the requirements for natural beauty/scenic views and are more likely to have good weather to enjoy them than further north in Europe. However, there are beautiful spots just about anywhere you go. Keukenhof Garden will be open in the Netherlands although the tulips won't peak until toward the end of April. There are a lot of nice smaller towns to visit in that area of the Netherlands. I often go at the end of March and stay in Leiden.

How much Aus$ to bring to Europe for 1 month?
Im looking to travel to Europe in late June to late July, for a month.
NOT INCLUDING FLIGHTS, how much will i need for a month going to amsterdam, barcelona, ibiza, berlin, mykonos and ios?????
I want to drink lots and eat well - not planning on staying in any hotels better than 3 stars though.
Answer: Staying in hostels and doing your own cooking you can count on $AU 100 per day at least, staying in hotels and eating out you should count on double that for a starter, going up with the class of hotels.
6 cities/islands in a month is a lot, specially if you will be drunk every night and the order you mention them is not very logical. You might be able to make it if traveling with cheap flights, but book 3 months before traveling to get them cheap. Still count on €100 per flight on average.
By the way, do not try to buy cigarettes on your way out of an airport, most have the rule that you can only buy before a flight. And if you do have cigarettes or other items customs might be interested in, better have them out in the open, hiding and trying to smuggle is worse than having a little too much when you approach a customs officer about it.
Added after reading the additions to the other answer:
I do set in high for the budget, because I know that many people end up without money on the end of a long travel, others know of people who traveled for much less and think that is enough for everybody.
So see several answers here to see what people advice for budget, but if you still think about getting 'hotels not better than 3 stars', drinking a lot and eating well, do count on much more money than the basic $50 to $100 per day. It will be nearer $300, going up with the class of the hotel.

Traveling around Europe for 1 year - what do legal documents do I need?
The September after I graduate high school I am leaving for Europe to travel and work in different countries throughout the whole year as a waitress, bartender, etc.
What do I need to be able to work and live all around Europe for a year?
I have googled around but I have not found much help.
Answer: Unless you are from one of the few countries that have a working holiday exchange program with some European countries, travelling and working for a year isn't possible. These countries include Canada, New Zealand and Australia, but it depends on the country you're applying to also. You receive a work permit for only one country, which means you can't get jobs elsewhere. We need to know your citizenship(s) in order to give the correct information. The US isn't one of the applicable countries (they won't allow a reciprocal agreement).
Otherwise, you can only stay in the Schengen area (which covers most of Europe) for 90 days out of every 180. There are only a few countries not in Schengen (UK, Ireland and parts of eastern/southeastern Europe). If you overstay those 3 months, you can receive large fines and a ban covering all of Schengen.
http://www.axa-schengen.com/en/schengen-countries
Unless you're eligible for a working holiday, you can't work those sorts of jobs in Europe anyway. Within the EEA, you generally need company sponsorship and unskilled work/general labor aren't even allowed this. Under the table jobs paid in cash don't really exist anymore, due to the mostly open borders for workers between EU countries. There are plenty of people legally allowed to work (and looking for jobs), so it's not work the risk to hire illegally. You also normally need to speak the local language proficiently, or at least English plus a couple of useful tourist languages.

How much would it cost to backpack through Europe for 1 year?
A friend and I are going to backpack through Europe for 1 year. We want to leave in August of 2012. We want to go the ABSOLUTE cheapest way about this. We arent trying to be in luxurious hotels or eat at fancy restaurants. We are there to travel and see the world. Also, please ANY tips or helpful guidelines, or anything would be great! Thanks so much!
Answer: People who backpack for a couple of weeks mostly budget $100 per day, that is staying in hostels, doing your own cooking from supermarket food and spending little on sight seeing and going out.
Traveling for longer you will not be able to have that kind of budget, so you will have to be even more careful.
As non European you can almost never work while in Europe, so you will have to have all needed money before you set out. And even when you would have permission to work, you would find it very hard to find jobs, as unemployment is very high in most of Europe and just high in the rest.
On a budget of $50, which is more realistic when traveling for a year, you will not have enough money to travel by train. You will have to go for the cheapest hostels and would end up eating beans and scrambled eggs, beans on toast and bean sandwiches, with peanut butter sandwiches for a change. If you look for cheaper you might be going for couch surfing which is cheaper still.
But a year at $50 per day and your tickets to Europe you will still have to save $20 000 for the trip.
On top of that comes that almost nobody can just travel in Europe for a year. Most people need visa, and for most of continental Europe you can stay 90 days out of each 180 days, in the time you can not stay in that area, you can stay in the UK and Ireland, or in some of the countries more to the east of Europe, but it will take more work to stay that long.
Most people end up working at home for some months, saving up all they can and travel in Europe at the end of the period, for up to 3 months.

Can you give tips to 3 guys, in their early 20s, visiting europe this summer for 3 weeks, paris, amsterdam, germany, austria, prague, athens etc... any tips that come to your mind that could be helpful?
Thank you!
Answer: in prague, talk to all the locals! most young people speak english and they are so, so nice, and will tell you all the best secret places to go. i spent months there with a friend who has lived there all her life and the places i enjoyed most were the non-touristy spots. make friends! and take the underground everywhere. stay out late, smoke cigarettes by the river, walk the cobblestone streets, people watch. go to the praha graveyard, the old jewish graveyard there is AMAZING. have fun

how did the conditions in post-world war 1 europe lead to the rise of dictators in some european countires?
i dont know the answer to this question. i dont even get the question all that well! it said that the economic and political factors that dated back to the end of world war 1. i dont know what they mean by that.
Answer: Europe was left in absolute ruin after World War I swept through it. It was something equivalent to a plague but worse: it destroyed homes, cities, economies, and it changed the world. The Germans were especially left at a disadvantage due to the Treaty of Versailles costing them so much. one factor that especially lead to the rise of dictators and WWII was that economies were trashed. Specifically in Germany, the government made the mistake of coining/printing too much money so they could pay off the war debts (many of which were from the treaty.) This lead germany into a terrible time of inflation. The citizens of Germany were burning their money just to keep warm. It was that worthless.
This shattered economy led to the Rise of Adolf Hitler. He blamed the Jews for ruining the economy and promised to restore the economy to is former grandeur. He continued gaining power and pulled Germany back up onto it's feet. He easily became the supreme ruler.
It's somewhat like Franklin Roosevelt. He came in at just the right time to help boost the economy. For pulling the country out of depression, he was rewarded with, what was it, 4 terms in office? If Hitler had been in Roosevelt's place, he might have been able to turn America into a dictatorship.
Hopes this helps with the homework.

What forces contributed to the spread of fighting in world war 1 from europe to asia and afria?
What forces contributed to the spread of fighting in world war 1 from europe to asia and afria?
Answer: World War I was a global military conflict which involved the majority of the world's great powers, organized into two opposing military alliances: the Entente Powers and the Central Powers. over 70 million military personnel were mobilized in one of the largest wars in history. in a state of total war, the major combatants fully placed their scientific and industrial capabilities at the service of the war effort. over 15 million people were killed, making it one of the deadliest conflicts in human history.
the proximate cause for the war was the June 28, 1914 assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand of Austria, heir to the Austro-Hungarian throne, by a Serbian nationalist, Gavrilo Princip. Austria-Hungary's resulting demands against the Kingdom of Serbia led to the activation of a series of alliances which within weeks saw all of the major European powers at war. as a consequence of the global empires of many European nations, the war soon spread worldwide.
by the war's end, four major imperial powers—Germany, Russia, Austria-Hungary, and the Ottoman Empire—had been militarily and politically defeated, with the latter two ceasing to exist as autonomous countries. the revolutionized Soviet Union emerged from the Russian Empire, while the map of central Europe was completely redrawn into numerous smaller states. the League of Nations was formed in the hope of preventing another such conflict. the European nationalism spawned by the war, the repercussions of Germany's defeat, and the Treaty of Versailles would eventually lead to the beginning of World War II in 1939.

How much money would I need saved up in order to travel in Europe for 1 month?
Im in college now, and I graduate in 2 years. After college before I try to find a job and start a career, I want to travel around Europe for around a month, but Im not sure how much money Im going to need saved up in order to do that? Does anyone have a rough estimate from experience how much it will cost. Im wanting to go to places like Paris, London, Dublin, Rome, Athens, Venice.. etc.
Thanks!
Answer: The costs depend on exactly when you visit, where you visit, where you're coming from, how you get around, rather you stay in hotels, hostels or have other arrangements, and what you see/do/eat. Generally, I would count on a minimum of 75 to 100 euro per day (per person) using hostels plus airfare for the trip to Europe. Here are some resources that can help you plan and check current prices:
http://www.kayak.com/ - airfares
http://www.skyscanner.it/ - budget flights especially good within Europe. For longer trips, this can be a better option than the trains.
http://www.seat61.com/ . For transportation, you'll want to look into whether a rail pass is better than individual train tickets for getting around. The site explains how to determine whether a pass is worth the money to you and if so which option to get. There are links to the national train sites where you can find schedules and prices of individual tickets. One of the best sites for planning schedules throughout most of Europe is the German train site: http://www.bahn.de/i/view/USA/en/index.s… site will also have information on supplements for the trains when using a railpass.
http://www.venere.com/ - hotels - probably not useful for what you want, but there are some cheap hotels.
http://www.hostelbookers.com/ - hostels.
http://www.monasterystays.com/ - monasterys & convents that offer accommodations
http://www.couchsurfing.org/
http://www.whatsonwhen.com/sisp/index.ht… - festivals, exhibitions and events
http://www.backpackeurope.com/ - information & advice
Check the websites for entrance fees for the museums & galleries you're interested in. I spend anywhere between nothing and 40 euro a day depending on exactly what I go to see when out exploring.
I often spend 25 to 50 euro for a meal, but I like to try the local specialties and some of the better restaurants, but you can eat well for less. Here in Italy, a pizza is 8 to 13 euro and a panino or wrap is around 3 to 6.50 euro in many places. You can also shop in the markets and put some meals together for yourself.

The difference between the effrects of World War 1 on Europe and Asia?
I am writing a compare/contrast essay on the effects of World War 1 on Europe and Asia. I need to know some similirities and differences, especially the differences between the way their societies dealt with their problems and the differences in how their economy was affected.
Answer: The war in Europe was a war of attrition, with little ground gained on the western front, but many lives lost. The eastern front in Europe was something like a yo-yo, with one side making huge territorial gains, only to lose them because their supply lines were spread too thin.
The war in Asia was much more one-sided. Japan allied with the Allies & wound up taking much of Germany's colonial possessions in that region.

Can I travel around Europe on 1-way tickets?
I am a Malaysian working in Norway. I am planning a little tour of France and United Kingdom this coming May. Heres how my plan goes:
1. Fly from Oslo to Paris by air
2. Travel from Paris to London on Eurostar
3. Travel from London to Edinburgh via train
4. Return to Oslo from Edinburgh by air
Im worried that for the trips from Oslo to Paris, then Paris to London and finally from Edinburgh back to Oslo I might experience difficulties at the immigration authorities because Ill be holding 1-way tickets instead of return tickets.
Can anyone advise if my travel plan is sound? Thank you very much.
Answer: The requirements for visa are that you have an return or onward ticket. As you will hold tickets for Oslo to Oslo through 3 other cities, you will not have problems on that ground. As long as you hold tickets out of the country before entering.
Do check that with your work visa you can travel to/in the Schengen zone and the UK, or apply for the needed visa.

I want to Backpack to Europe in 1 year suggestions please?
It will be my first time going to Europe. I plan on taking this trip around June 2010. I would like to know where can I start planning. Also $3,500 a good budget for 2 weeks? I plan on going to these Cities
Paris, France
Amsterdam, Netherlands
Brussels, Belgium
Barcelona, Spain
Maybe more or just these cities!!
Other suggestions would be appreciated!!
Answer: Depend if you included the cost of flight.
My recommend about travel:
Start with trip from Barcelona -(flight) Amsterdam -(270km) Belgium -(270km) Paris
If you need to safe money, is good way to go from Ams-Bel-Paris by car. It doesn't take a long time.
Or do it oppositely - Amstr-Belg-Paris-(flight)Barcelona.
If you will be lucky, cost of one flight is smth about €130.
Really recommend book accommodation, especially in Spain.
This is cheapest way, what I figure out when I have traveled same countries.
I think, if you go here to europe, its good to visit london too... From Belgium to Canal Lamanche (English Channel) take a while. But its up to you.
My schedule:
Paris - 4 days
Amsterdam - 3 days
Brussels - 2-3 days
Barcelona - 3-4 days
(England, Luxembourg)- 2-3
If you are gonna take $3500 , its about €2500 isnt it? I think that its enough, depend if you want to buy "souvenirs" or just for entrance...
P.S Sorry for my english

How did World War 1 effect Europes economy?
I need to know at least three ways that world war 1 effected Europes economy!?
Answer: erm, it caused a depression in germany.
When the war ended germany had to surrender and they were forced into the LAMP act. Land Army Money and Pride. they were forced to give up all land they occupied and the ruhr land, this was a very industrial part of germany, so germany couldn't produce in its factories so they lost money. there army was cut to less than 1000 so they were left weak. they had to pay 6,6Billion in reparations to britain france and belgium, and even now that's allot of money so the country was in debt. and the german people lost there pride because they had to take the blame for the war.
germany didn't have the money to pay back the 6,6billion so they decided to print more money this lead to inflation and then to try and combat this they stopped paying the reparations. but Br Fr Be were not happy so they began to take german resources like coal, the german government told the workers in areas that were occupied to go on strike but they still needed to be paid so the government printed more money causing hyper inflation.
then they loaned money form america and there was the wall street crash and that caused all hell too. it was a bad time :)
