Answer: Its called a Turbo timer. Cars from factory don't have them usually. You can set it to what time it turns the engine off. Turbo's run hotter than normal requires the cirlation of oil after a hard drive. You could just sit in the car for 2-3mins thats all it really needs.

Things i need before putting on a TURBO?

I know its sounds silly but iam planning on putting a small T2 Turbo on my 2002 1.5L toyota ECHO. Ive seen some echos that are Turbocharged and they are sick, they keep up with anything even my brothers BMW 740IL. I already have my eye on a Turbo that costs $400 so its a preatty good price. The only thing the dude at the shop have said is that i dont really need all that intercooler stuff. He said that the Turbo is small so i dont really need to get too fancy, just place it on reprogram the ECU at dyno and iam good to go. Iam not planning to make this echo into a 9sec car but iam planning to invest about $1000 bucks and make it fast enogh. Does anyone know what i should keep in mind, like what i need to place and replace before i put on the Turbo?

why did TURBO tax not take my state income return from the previous year and put it as income?

I have always used Turbo tax and this year i received a form from the IRS stating that we owed taxes on previous state income. Shouldnt Turbo tax have picked this up? I am in the state of VA - and did itemize. Turbo tax automaticly put the income in the state files but not federal, I cant understand why that was missed?
Answer: You are only required to include state returns as income on federal taxes if you itemized deductions on a Schedule A the year before. If you did, then Turbo tax should have caught that, if you didn't, it doesn't count as income. Reason: If you don't itemize, then the tax from city and state governments gets rolled up in the standard deduction, but if you itemize, you are taking a dollar for dollar off of earned income. Hope this makes sense.

Answer: I had a Porche Turbo, and it did burn oil to cool the Turbo. I personally preferred synthetic; it hardly has any friction unlike standard oil, and it ran alot cooler. You don't have to change it as often when you are using a high performance oil filter, but keep in mind that it does cost more, and it does burn some oil. Still, it should save from increased milage, and longer life from less friction.

Is it true that when you are driving a Turbo charged car and you are going to put off the engine it is not advisable to switch off right away the engine. You wait for a minutes to switch off the engine. Why?
Answer: It's true that Top Contributors often don't know shiit. They just ask themselves questions under another ID and pick themselves as best answer over and over until they make TC. Turbochargers are driven by the car's extremely hot exhaust, and they spin at many more thousands of revolutions per minute than the engine, especially when the car is being driven at highway speed. The faster the engine is running, the faster the Turbo is spinning, and the hotter it gets. Therefore, they operate at extremely high temperature, and under much worse conditions than the engine. They are often lubricated with engine oil, which is cooled by the car's cooling system, and possibly by an extra oil cooler. When you shut off an engine, all the heat that was being removed by the cooling system has nowhere to go, so it all gets radiated under the hood, heat-soaking everything under there. Because the Turbocharger bearings operate so hot and so fast, there is a tremendous amount of heat that is normally drawn away by the flow of the oil. This heat is no longer being carried away if the engine is not running, so the oil that is still in the Turbo's bearings can cook, and there have been issues with that oil even crystallizing, which means that it is no longer able to lubricate the Turbo's bearings, and it could block the oil passages, destroying the Turbo. It used to be recommended that Turbocharged cars be allowed to idle for a minute or two in order to let the Turbo cool down before shutting off the engine. It's not so much any more because of advances in engine oil and Turbo bearing design, but it still isn't a bad idea. Frankly, it's not a bad idea even if your car isn't Turbocharged, especially in hot weather. Letting some of that heat dissipate at idle after a fast highway trip, especially with the air conditioner blasting, will help keep your car from boiling over when you shut down.

What is TURBO in general and TURBOcharger in automobile in particular?

Now a days one can find the word Turbo in products like music system, automobile etc. What does it mean? How does it help?
Answer: A Turbo in an automobile is an exhaust driven method of forcing air into the intake system. Normally aspirated engines rely on low pressure created when the piston is travelling downward to create a vacuum that sucks air into the cylinder that will be compressed when the piston moves upwards. In a Turbocharged engine exhaust gases pushed out of the engine spin a turbine that is connected to an impeller on the intake system by a common shaft. The impeller acts like a strong fan that shoves air into the intake system filling the cylinder much more than just the vacuum alone. Having more air compressed into the same space creates stronger combustion therefore more power produced by the engine. In this manner Turbo enhances the performance of the automobile. When Turbo is used to describe electronics and other general items, it is used figuratively to compare the enhancement of that product to how a real Turbo enhances the performance of an engine.

Answer: it lets you set buttons to auto so you get rapid fire etc. I don't recommend them for a few reasons aftermarket controllers aren't reliable they sometimes don't work with certain games if you are playing online using one it's considered cheating and you can be reported and banned

Answer: TurboCHARGER This is where the fun stuff happens. A Turbo is a snail-shaped, two-chambered air pump that uses exhaust flow to spin a turbine which, in turn, spins an impeller that compresses intake air on its way into the combustion chambers. In order to maximize efficiency, the impeller that compresses the intake air is larger than the turbine. Turbos come in a number of sizes and with various options and configuration choices. If you're curious about these options, check out Kid Turbo's article on Turbochargers. If you're buying a pre-configured Turbo kit, there's no need to worry about Turbo options. Manufacturers like GReddy, Turbonetics, HKS, HotShot, and others have already weighed all the options and chosen the best Turbo for your specific application. If you're buying a Turbo on its own, you should be aware that not all Turbos are appropriate for every application. Some of the larger ones require more exhaust flow to efficiently spin the turbine than can be produced by a small-displacement engine. Bigger isn't necessarily better! INTERCOOLER An intercooler is a radiator-like device that cools the intake charge before it reaches the throttle body.The nature of a Turbocharger causes it to heat the intake charge significantly. If you've read Kid Turbo's article on cold air intakes, you know that a cooler intake charge is preferred for safety and performance reasons. Many auto enthusiasts incorporate an intercooler in their Turbo system to provide the coolest, densest intake charge possible. DOWN PIPE The downpipe connects the exhaust outlet of the Turbocharger to the rest of the exhaust system. Once the exhaust flow has been routed through the turbine, it exits the Turbo and flows through the downpipe to the catalytic converter and exhaust. Downpipes are relatively simple—they're not much more than a pipe with a flange at either end. Some downpipes also have a side flange to accept a dump pipe from an external wastegate (see below). Downpipes are typically have wide diameters because they are designed to evacuate exhaust as quickly as possible, thereby increasing the efficiency of the Turbo. WASTEGATE Turbos, by their very nature, tend to spin faster and faster as long as exhaust flows through them. If left unchecked, the Turbo will accelerate to the point of overboosting. A wastegate regulates boost by keeping some of the exhaust flow from passing through the turbine once boost reaches a pre-set level. Usually, the wastegate is set at the maximum desired boost pressure—say, 8 PSI for a typical application—with a spring or a set screw. Wastegates are either internal, in which they are built into the snail housing of the Turbo, or external, in which they are installed in between the exhaust manifold and the Turbo. Smaller Turbos typically incorporate an internal wastegate, while large Turbos meant for high-volume applications usually require an external wastegate with larger bypass capabilities. If your Turbo kit doesn't come with a separate wastegate, it's most likely an internal unit. BLOW-OFF VALVE A blow-off valve is a device that provides an escape for high-pressure intake air to vent back to the atmosphere when boost is not needed. At high RPMs, a Turbo compresses an enormous amount of air, which continuously enters the engine via the throttle body. The compressed air has someplace to go as long as the throttle remains open, but once you lift your foot off the gas to shift or slow down and the throttle plate closes, the high-pressure air still needs to go somewhere. The blow-off valve vents the pressurized air to the atmosphere or back to the intake system. When operating under racing conditions without a blow-off valve, the intake air could back up into the Turbo unit and cause a backspool, likely damaging the Turbo internals. BOOST CONTROLLER A boost controller, as its name implies, regulates the boost level of a Turbocharger. It does this by manipulating the boost pressure level at which the wastegate activates. The boost controller allows higher boost levels than the wastegate would normally allow by bleeding off excess boost pressure before the wastegate is activated. The boost controller, in effect, determines the maximum boost to be generated by the Turbo. Boost controllers are available as manual units, which are generally cheaper and provide an approximate level of control, or as fancier electrical units which allow for very fine control from the driver's seat. Boost Gauges BOOST GAUGE A boost gauge is an accessory item that displays intake air pressure in pounds per square inch (PSI) inside the vehicle's cockpit. While not necessary for a basic Turbo installation, a boost gauge is very useful for monitoring, tuning, and troubleshooting a Turbo system's performance. And besides, it looks really cool, especially when mounted on an A-pillar! Turbo TIMER A Turbo timer allows you to shut down your engine, remove your key, lock your doors, and leave your car while the engine idles, allowing your Turbo to cool down in a controlled manner. Like most engine parts, a Turbo requires oil and coolant feeds to keep its internals cool and lubricated. When you shut down your engine, any oil and coolant that's left in the Turbo gets exposed to extremely high temperatures for a prolonged period of time, breaking down their protective properties.

In my area there is legislation stating that I cannot drive a Turbo-charged vehicle. I would like to purchase a Turbo 300zx, bypass the Turbo then when off my Ps re-engage the Turbo. Is there a way of doing this?
Answer: Not exactly practical. Just get a different car and quit dreaming. The model will still show as a Turbo so you still can't drive it. .

How much will it cost for a TURBO in toyota corrola?

I just had a brand new engine put in my toyota corrola. I want to add a Turbo to it. What kind of Turbo would i need and where would i get it. I would like to know the amount to and if there are any extra accessories i need. I just want to improve horsepower about 50. Nothing major. So a cheaper Turbo would be fine. Also want to add a duel exhaust would this give more horsepower and the price on that. I have a 2002 toyota corolla. Like i said i put about 8k in the car to have everything rebuilt as new. So i will need a new exhaust. what is your email? No i had a brand new engine put in never used or rebuilt. It cost $4800. The toyota i have has had everything new put on it except a transmission. The car has had about 12 grand put into it. Even if not worth it its small and light good acceleration. i have a body shop that does my work. Ive been looking around and ive seen Turbos for $900. The main question is what parts do i need. I need a complete list so i just go buy. Im thinking of tryin and installing Turbo myself and having tuned afterwards.
Answer: A brand new engine?? Do you mean it was rebuilt or bought as used. You can add a Turbo to that engine. The Toyota MRS used the same engine, and Turbo kits were made for that engine. With a good shop and some fabrication; you should get it to work well in your Corolla. You are looking for quite a bit of power and increase of 50 hp is major for any car. A cheaper Turbo may not be reliable for what you are looking to get. Call some reputable tuner shops and they will probably tell you the same thing. For that amount of power increase you will probably need to strengthen the internals of your engine...(unless you had it rebuilt with strengthened internals such as aluminum pistons and rods, and head work already...) You will probably need an intercooler and a lot of dyno time to get the power you are looking for. A Turbo kit alone will cost around 2-3 thousand. But the labor and tunning will cost a lot more than that. A dual exhaust will probably hurt your car's performance. A dual exhaust actually lessens power in many lower hp cars. Plus the added weight... You will get better flow dynamics with a single 2.5 inch exhaust. A lot of small shops will just throw on cheap exhaust tubing....believe it or not toyota has been using stainless steel in their exhaust systems for a long time. They don't look like it but they are...they don't rust off like older systems. If you want a good exhaust then keep that in mind and also have a good shop do it. Just cause it looks good does not mean it will make more power.
