Where is Jerry Lewis during the MDA TELETHON?
Ive been watching the MDA Telethon and so far I havent seen Jerry Lewis yet. Has he been on there at all? Will he be on this year?
Answer: I'm not sure when you turned it on, but he was there. He came on at the very start and was on until about 3am CST. Then he goes and rests/sleeps for awhile and comes back on at about 2:30-3pm CST. As much as he would love to and wishes he could, his health won't allow him to do the full 21.5 hours anymore. When he was off resting, during breaks, there was also some pre-recorded stuff they did with Jerry, that they showed.

I know that some of you are really really into pop culture and you feel you absolutely MUST adhere to George Clooneys political views, but for the average Joe, the unwashed masses, how does the idea of millionaires riding limos in expensive gowns costing thousands of dollars to demand attention so they can raise a fraction of what the concert will cost to put on with maybe even a fraction of that actually reaching haiti make you fee?
Answer: Like most liberals, they are hypocrites. They'll get on TV and beg for money and at least one of those spoiled brats will badmouth our country or George Bush or capitalism, thus insulting those who they're trying to get to contribute. I'm not watching to find out, but you'll know we'll hear about it tomorrow.

what is Jerry Lewis compensation history with the MD TELETHON?
How much money has Jerry Lewis been paid to host the Telethon?
Answer: Absolutely None!!!!
He does this out of the kidness of his heart. Whatever reason motivates him to do this, he's been doing it since 1949. You can see that he's very genuine about and dedicated to this fight and as he mentioned in the Telethon, he will keep fighting until a cure is found. When your so dedicated and emotionally involved with something, whether it be a cause or whatever, you donate you're time and efforts and you don't want any material compensation, such as money. That's what Jerry does. He wants to help these kids live longer and finally beat their illness. If nothing else, he wants to bring smiles to their faces and let them know that there's people there that care for them, that there's hope. That's his reward, to see "his kids" happy. He doesn't get money, he doesn't want money, he wants to help these people that are afflicted with such a horrible disease. There is this big misconception that he gets paid for this. Unfortunately society has put that idea into our head. It only takes a few bad seeds, a few people who let fame go to their head and ego, to put an idea in everyone's head. Other people just simply don't understand the man that Jerry is. They might not follow his work or his life and for that, just don't know his heart, his personality, or his character. All three of which are amazing and golden.
Let me put this into perspective. Think of something you are or were so dedicated to. It doesn't have to be a cause, it could simply be a hobby or something you like that you can sit down and talk for hours about. Now let's say you were asked or had the opportunity and means to take whatever it is you're dedicated to and help people or share that with someone. Would you want to get paid? Most likely not. I've had a couple opportunities like that and one was my initiative where I dedicated to two months of full weekends, walking around a neighborhood, trying to help someone. There wasn't a penny to be earned and not only would I not have it any other way, I would do it again in a heartbeat. The other opportunity, I refused payment because not only would I have been embarrased to take money for something I enjoyed so much, I believed in the cause and would rather have seen the money go toward help the cause then toward my services, especially when it's something I would have done on my free time anyway.
Bottom line - Jerry gets nothing in terms of money, he wants 100% of all the money earned to go to helping the people and families that suffer with this disease. He does this Telethon because it's something he believes very strongly about. This fight can't be won without help from millions of people and Jerry has the opportunity and means to reach millions of people to get help in fighting with him. He does this Telethon out of the pure goodness of his heart.

At a certain point in a 72-hour Telethon, one-half of the time that has passed is equal to one-sixth of the time to come. How many more hours of the Telethon remain?

Answer: The answer is 54 hours remain. Do the equation 1/2x (x being the time passed) = 1/6y (y being the time to come). Find y, which comes to be y = 3x. since x + y will equal 72, the total hours of the Telethon, plug 3x in for y. You will get 4x = 72. Find x, which will be 18, then substitute 18 in for x in the 1/2x=1/6y equation. Solve for y and get 54!
There's your answer, and btw, do you happen to be in Mrs. W's class, because I just had this question for extra credit :).

So it seems the Haiti Telethon has raised (within range, Im not exactly sure of how much) along the lines of 100-200 million dollars. What if we had a Telethon to benefit our own country, and fix some of the many problems that WE have. I understand their situation is one of drastic loss, financially and emotionally, but to me it seems the US tries to help out so many other places other than OURSELVES
